DE: Ok, ich muss vielleicht zuerst gestehen, dass mein Lieblingsalbum von Landstrumm “she took a bullet meant for me” ist. Daher erstaunt es auch nicht, dass ich von seinem vor 4 Tagen veröffentlichten Track auf Soundcloud mehr als angetan bin. Die typischen Bass Sounds bis hin zum Lead und den Drums, ich liebe diesen Landstrumm Sound einfach. Dieser Song ist eine Neuinterpretation von E_Flash im Original von Joey Beltram.


EN: Ok, maybe I have to admit first that my favorite album of Landstrumm is “she took a bullet meant for me”. Therefore it is no surprise that the recently published E_Flash track on Soundcloud really impressed me. It starts from the typical bass sounds to the typical lead and to the drums which I really love from Landstrumm. This song, is a reinterpretation of the original E_Flash by Joey Beltram.

Neil Landstrumm ist Produzent, DJ und Grafiker, der ursprünglich aus Schottland stammt. Er hat aber auch bereits 6 Jahre in New York (USA) verbracht.

1994 startete Neil Landstrumm seine Karriere als elektronischer Musiker. Er arbeitete auch als Motion Grafiker bei MTV, Rockstar Games und The Magnificents.

Bis dato hat Neil Landstrumm 9 Alben uns jene EP’s veröffentlicht. 2 grandiose Werke, die ich hier erwähnen möchte:

Brown By August
Der Erstling (1995) von Neil Landstrumm via Label Peacefrog Records. Dort hat er noch keinen Dubstep produziert, sondern guten alten Techno. Man hört auch gut aus welchem Jahr das Album stammt, was es aber auf keinen Fall abwerten soll, damals waren das Wissen und die Technik noch nicht so weit. Solider Techno mit dröhnenden Beats und ziemlich monotonen Melodien erwarten einen.

Erschienen 2001 auf dem Label Tresor. Mein absoluter Favorit von Neil Landstrumm. Auf diesem Album hat er seinen Stil absolut zum Besten gegeben. Auch diesen Album prägt sich noch nicht wirklich durch Dubstep. Eher hat er eine Mischung geschafft, wie selten gehört. Die Mischung von dieser Düsterkeit und Schrägheit, kombiniert mit Techno, BigBeat und Dubstep.
Etwas für eine gute Musik Sammlung ;o)

Neil Landstrumm hat 1996 auch sein eigenes Label “Scandinavia” gegründet. Ein paar EP’s von ihm selber sind dort erschienen und ein paar weitere, mir unbekannte Musiker.

Seinen einmaligen, wiedererkennbaren Stil kann man ihm sicher nicht streitig machen. Er hält sich aber auch heute noch gut im Underground, obwohl er doch einen gewissen Namen hat. Sein letzten Alben sind denn dementsprechend auch ziemlich auf Dubstep abgerichtet.

Man höre sich doch mal sein letztes Album “Lord for 39£” an (gleich unten).

At that time he hasn’t produced any Dubstep, but good old Techno. You get an idea from which year it is by listening, not meant bad, but they hadn’t the knowledge and the technology so far for a good quality. Solid techno with throbbing beats and pretty monotonic melodies.

Published in 2001 on the label Tresor. My absolute favorite of Neil Landstrumm. On this album he has given his style absolutely the best. Also, this album is not really a Dubstep album. Rather, he has got a mixture, as is rare. The mixture of these gloomy, dirty, trashy sounds, combined with Techno, Dubstep and BigBeat.
Something every one should have in a good music collection ;o)

1996 Neil Landstrumm founded his own Label “Scandinavia”. A few EP’s are produced by them and a few other musicians, unknown to me.

His unique, recognizable style can for sure survive in the big electronic world. Even if he has a certain name in the electronic world, he maintains to stay underground. If you listen to his latest albums you know what I’m talking about.

Shlohmo ist ein junger Künstler/Musiker aus L.A. (USA). Shlomoshun deluxe ist nun sein bereits 3. veröffentlichtes Album auf dem Label “FoF Music”.

Seine Beats, die ziemlich experimentell ausfallen, wirken durch die wohlig warmen Klänge/Synthesizer extrem zutraulich. Nimmt man seine Beats auseinander, erinnert es mich an eine Mischung aus Neil Landstrumm, Justice und Adriano Canzian. Was auffällt auf diesem Album, der Newcomer Shlohmo scheint ein Vorliebe für Kompressoren zu haben. Zugegeben wirkt dies mit dem dubstep’igen Sound auf seinem Drittling extrem gelungen. Geräusche die den dub’igen Beat kurzzeitig wie ausschalten/dämpfen.

Sehr empfehlenswertes Album wer sich gerne auf experimentelle Beats einlässt.

Shlohmo is a young artist / musician from LA (USA). Shlomoshun deluxe is now his third released album on the label “FoF Music”.

His beats, that turns out quite experimental, feels really confident with his cozy, warm sounds and synthesizers. If we take apart his beats, it reminds me of a mix of Neil Landstrumm, Justice and Adriano Canzian. What stands out on this album, the newcomer Shlohmo seems to have a fondness for compressors. Granted, this works pretty good with his dubstep’py third album shlomoshun deluxe.. The noises and melodies get kind of a cut off.

Highly recommended album for anyone loving experimental beats.
