Biography

Andreas Grichting or Andy aka Chief Thomson was born 1983 in South Switzerland (Wallis). Due to his father, he early got in touch with music. He was a local Folklore musician. In the other way he discovered the 80’s pop due to his mother.

Andy was not too much into this kind of music. He more got the urge to listen to something harder. Music like Hardcore/Gabber…

He also was fascinated by computer and so it was only one further step to get in touch with electronic music. He bought his first music software and started producing simple songs with samples and loops.

He had the chance, that there was a local DJ and producer in the same village. From time to time Andy went to him and bought some vinyl. Sometimes he showed Andy how he is producing music, how his whole studio worked.

1 year later, he got some news friends, doing music, but band music. So he started playing Didgeridoo and played in this band for some month. Soon he was pulled back to his roots, the electronic music.

Later on, a friend of Andy bought a set of 2 MKII Technics vinyl players and a mixer. Almost every evening they made a kind of mix called "ping pong". It means one mix has been done by Andy and the next mix by his friend and so on.

Electronic music was getting more important in his life. Soon he had the necessary software to produce skilled music. His sound became more and more professional.

He never had a DJ career, but it was a part of his life, to get a knowledge of DJ’s and other electronic musicians, he still got inspired today.

Meanwhile he is doing electronic music projects with male and female singers.

As of now – 2010 - he released his first album "pop is gonna die".
