See what I found yesterday. The ION Discover Dj device. It's a midi controller that let's you control a software called "MixVibes". A software with 2 channels. A fantastic feature this tool delivers is the possibility to read out your whole iTunes library. I'm only using iTunes, so it's fantastic.
I hopefully should get it tomorrow. I will write a short review for the people outside ...

Electronic Street Jam! Experimental but great! 13.05.2010 - 11:36:23
Found this video on myspace! The say, it's how they try to earn money on the streets of Canada ;o))
This is gonna be a special article about live looping, I'd better say, live looping in FL Studio.
A few weeks ago I read the first time about live looping. I knew there is some kind of "mix" technique to do music in this way. And as you possibly know, I'm using FL Studio from Image Line. It's not really a "live" software as Ableton live. I didn't want to use a new music software. First of all, I found some free software stuff like Ambiloop.
I was googling arround, reading and writing in forums and finally I found a solution. It has some disadvantages, but there's anyway a lot you can do with it. Here's the howto.
Of course, open FL Studio first. On the left side of your browser you will find the "mixer presets". The preset we need is the "1-bar overdub recording". Seen in that way, it's very simple to explain. On one certain mixer track you have a delay effect, which delays the input from you only after 1 bar of time. So drag and drop the "1-bar overdub recording" into one channel. You will see then there's a delay effect and Edison. Now you already can try to do some live looping. Open a new channel with a synthesizer or whatever, somthing that does sound ;o). Link the channel you added to the mixer track one and there you go...
1 specific disadvantage is, once added a sound or a noise, you never can just mute one specific note, because it delays what you input into FL Studio. But what you can do, just put Edison into the master channel, then add the mixer preset to multiple mixer tracks, delete Edison immediately, just leave it on the master channel and you can link the delay mute button in the mixer track to a midi controller. You gonna delete then the whole mixer track you recorded, but at least you can pause it or play something new.
In this blog post, you can hear my first try. It possibly sounds monotonic, but it's the way if you link all your channels to one mixer track. I think next week or so I'm gonna put my newest live looping track into my blog, it really sounds much better ;o)
Experimental evening with sound! Listen to it... 05.05.2010 - 23:46:34
I don't know if you already heard of "Live Looping". This is a kind of technique, where you record, let's say, 2 bars. If you finished recording these 2 bars, your software host or hardware will play the 2 bars in a loop, ever and ever again. while looping the first input, you play something new for 2 bars, and it does the same. repeat it again and again. Otherwise have a look at youtube. You'll find a lot of stuff ;o))
Today I did it for the first time. Wanted to try something new, different...
That's what came out ;o))
